Parklands Blvd set for rehabilitation

Parklands Blvd in Little Mountain is scheduled for around $400,000 of improvements, starting this week as part of council’s $23 million Road Reseal and Rehabilitation Program.

A section of road pavement between Little Mountain Dr and Ivadale Blvd will be rehabilitated.

Drainage improvements will be undertaken first with asphalt resealing scheduled for the latter half of the project, during school holidays.

Division 3 Councillor Peter Cox said there would be temporary detours in place.

“These improvements are necessary maintenance that will provide a stronger road surface into the future,” Cr Peter Cox.

“We encourage motorists to allow an extra 10-15 minutes travel time while this work is underway.

“Our traffic controllers will be proactively working to help ease the impact on peak school drop-off and pick-up times.

“Please follow the directions of traffic controllers and be patient when travelling through the area both for your safety and that of the people working on the road.”

Work started today (March 13) and will continue for four weeks (weather permitting). Construction is expected to start at 7am and finish by 5pm each day.

Council maintains more than 2200km of roads across the region through its Road Reseal and Rehabilitation Program to ensure they are safe for motorists.

Through this program, council repairs road failures, improves the road surface, and renews line marking – all to ensure the region has safe and high quality local roads.

In 2016/17, the $23 million program includes more than 80km across 193 roads.
