Council's draft plan for 73km of scenic coastal pathway

Anyone who loves to walk, run or ride along the Sunshine Coast’s coastline should take a look at council’s Draft Coastal Pathway Master Plan and have their say on the proposed route.

Providing feedback on the draft master plan will also put you in the draw for prizes such as bike shop vouchers and restaurant vouchers for surf clubs along the Coastal Pathway route.

Mayor Mark Jamieson said the master plan would guide council in expanding on existing pathways.
“The Sunshine Coast has a spectacular coastline that is hugely enjoyed by our residents and visitors,” Mayor Jamieson said.

“Council is aiming to provide a continuous shared pathway spanning 73km of our coastline.
“The overall vision of the master plan is to develop a world class scenic coastal pathway for our community.

“There are many great pathways already in place and this master plan will help guide the route and fill in the gaps where pathways need to be upgraded or constructed.

“The Coastal Pathway makes it easier and safer for our community to enjoy an active lifestyle and experience the iconic views, beaches and parks that are such a key part of living in our region.
“It also helps people connect to local destinations, services and businesses and this access will be improved as the pathway is upgraded and extended.”

People who have their say on the draft master plan will enter the draw for prizes including:

  • 1 x $1000 bike shop voucher
  • 1 of 3 $100 sports shop vouchers
  • 1 of 7 $100 vouchers for surf clubs and restaurants along the Coastal Pathway route.

View the draft master plan and complete the online survey before December 23. The plans are also available to view in council’s libraries.
